I have won about 6-8 units from Storwell both on Ebay when they did them that way and now this way, I am not saying that I like this way over the live auctions that I do almost daily , But I do know for fact that THEY DO NOT go throw the units and rifle them for the good stuff. I have been doing storage auctions for about 13 years now and the best unit I ever got was from Storwell.
I do like the fact that I can schedule my pick up time to my schedule instead of 24 or 48 hours from time of winning in a live auction,
I will keep bidding and winning from Storwell, if you na sayers don’t wish to participate then I can only suggest that you don’t, after all it is not like the TV shows ,, not every locker will bring you the treasure(s) you seek, what ever that is.

KVS, we understand the concern regarding online auctions.Fact is, they are not different from any other type of online auction. Our managers have worked with us for years and are top notch professionals. We invite you to visit our facilities and see the kind of service we provide. Fact is, we’ve been in this business for over 20 years and we’ve been conducting our online auctions for a while now. We have many returning bidders who know we provide a trustworthy service. Furthermore, we invite you to participate in our bidding system. You will see that it is fair and that the price is determined by the what bidders can see in the unit. Otherwise, no hard feelings, please come back to see new auctions as they come up every 10 to 14 days. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again. We are in the customer service business not retail. Have a nice evening.

The fact that the lockers are opened by staff raises some suspicions. Staff should be able to see the contents of the unit at the SAME TIME that the potential buyer sees the unit – but this can only be done with live auctions, not online auctions. For storage lockers online auctions just don’t work – we don’t know the staff and if they’re trustworthy or not, and like Psycho said, if there was a box of rolex watches in plain view it might just disappear and not make it in the video. I’ve been buying storage locker contents for years in NY, I would never buy a storage locker from an online auction.

whatever you say psycho, keep the 10 bucks

It is not true about the lock cutting being fiction. There are auctions outside GTA where this is exactly whats being done. People get to see unit as it is. Your ‘guarantee’ that nothing is stolen or removed is a joke. People get killed for 10 bucks on streets of Toronto and you want me to believe that if there was a box of Rolex watches in plain view worth lets say 50 000 bucks YOU OR YOUR STUFF WOULD NOT TAKE IT? ahahahahahaha….
yep..innovation ? with a 20 seconds video? you’re a joke and so is your ‘auction’.

First of all, where would you find someone stupid enough to buy a washer and dryer for $2K? Secondly, you would benefit twice from removing the true valuables from the storage space, one from selling the valuables and two from auction off the rest of the crap you have left in it. Common sense, you can have this! Anyone that actually bids on this most likely needs the crap thats in it only. lol Good luck in finding someone that stupid!

For those of you who are so skeptical and doubt that this is being run with integrity, you need to think a bit more realistically. How would it actually benefit them to take out the valuable items before showing you the video? They want to score the highest price possible, and the more valuable items that are visible in the video, the more people are willing to bid on them. If they were going to take out the valuable items, why would they show a video of a unit with a brand new, front loading, Whirlpool brand washer and dryer? They could have removed those two items and sold them for $2k on their own! If their intention was to steal and host auctions for units that have already been pilfered, you wouldn’t see anything of any value when you watch the videos. Those who are so negative and believe that everyone is cheating and lying are simply the type of people who regularly cheat and lie in their own lives, and in their own line of work. Oh well….the more of you who are so fearful and ignorant that are out there, the better for the rest of us!

To further inform our customers regarding our policy on auction units and to answer the ongoing questions about how intact the contents of these units are consider these points:

    1. Nothing is removed from the units as it is technically still the renter’s property.

    2. Our policy is to conduct online auctions exclusively, because we believe in innovation and convenience for our customers.

    3. Storwell does not make profit from people’s belongings, we are in the storage business. We need abandoned units to be cleared out so that we are at our full capacity.

    4. We have repeat customers who believe in the integrity of Storwell’s service. We are happy when our bidders score big as they are more likely to come back in the future.

    5. What you see on TV about cutting the lock at the time of the auction is
more often fiction than reality. We need to cut the locks to make the videos of the units where people decide for themselves what to bid.

How are we supposed to believe this? Manager gets distracted while others rifle through and remove valuables…Food for Thought. Keep the units in their original locked state and lets cut them open in front of the bidders. You could do web casts for those who don’t want to get off their asses and take live online bids as well.
